Preschool Director

St. Francis United Methodist Church seeks a dedicated leader for the church’s Preschool “where love and learning go hand in hand.” The ideal candidate possesses a passion for working with young children, teachers, and parents. The Preschool Director is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and joyful half-day program for children ages two to five. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition. This role combines strategic planning, staff leadership, curriculum development, family engagement, and administrative oversight, ensuring the Preschool fulfills its mission to nurture and educate children in a faith-based setting.

The position start date is July 2027, with the opportunity to participate in a paid mentorship in spring 2027 to work with the current director in support of a smooth transition in leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

· Strong Christian faith, active involvement in the life of the church, and alignment with St. Francis UMC’s mission and values

· Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for coursework in early childhood education or related fields

· Minimum three years teaching experience in early childhood education

· Knowledge of child development, curriculum planning, and staff supervision

· Evidence of prior leadership experience

· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a nurturing and professional demeanor

· Three professional references regarding work with children

· Current CPR/First Aid for Children certification

· For new employees, a background check is required as well as completion of the St. Francis UMC Safe Sanctuary training
