What does the United Methodist Church believe?

United Methodists hold firm to the Articles of Religion and we are a creedal denomination, meaning we base our beliefs and understanding of Scripture, the varied and many councils, including the Councils of Nicaea, Chalcedon, Constantinople, and others beginning in 325AD or CE. These creeds established what it would mean to say and be a Christian.

Today, the UMC continues to uphold the teachings of the early church; however, there is room for grace, questions, disagreement, working out one's salvation dependent upon God and the journey each person and each community travels with God.

St. Francis is now proud to be a Lighthouse congregation!
